Connected Through Prayer
Prayer is communication from us straight to the Lord. We do not need anyone to go on our behalf; we can talk to Him directly. When we need direction in life, we can go to Him. When we feel thankful and blessed, we can go to Him. When we are sorrowful, we can go to Him. Praying continually keeps us connected to God and others. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 tells us, “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” This verse tells us exactly how we should pray.
God longs for us to communicate with Him. When we pray, we should express the joy He has given us. Joy does not necessarily mean happiness, but instead an inexpressible feeling that God gives us in all circumstances. Never stop praying; always stay in communication with God. Pray in the morning and thank Him for a new day. Pray as you go throughout your day, as you make decisions and are faced with difficult circumstances. Pray in the evening and spend time with the Lord, and pray for those in need and your own relationship with the Lord. As this verse says, be thankful through everything, knowing that you belong to Jesus. He is with you and will lead you and guide you. When you pray, give Him thanks for all He has done; praise Him for the blessings in your life.
The best part about having a relationship with Christ and praying is that it does not matter who you are, how much education you have, what type of job you have, or how long you have been a Christian. Prayer is what ties us together as Christians. We can pray individually and strengthen our own relationship with the Lord, and we can pray corporately with other believers for unity and peace.
